Drug abuse, rehab stints, angry public outbursts, quickie marriages followed by divorce...they have done it all. Time and again, they have been written off by a ruthless media and unforgiving fans. Yet, these two powerhouses of resilience pulled themselves together and bounced right back.

Drew Barrymore

This Charlie's angel has led a rather colorful life. Drew's career began when she was only 11 months old with a dog food commercial. She tasted stardom at 8 years, with the superhit science-fiction blockbuster E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial. Her mother, Jaid, started taking Drew to night clubs and she became a regular at Studio 54, where still in her pre-teens, she took a liking for drugs and alcohol. She was only 13 when she became violent while trying unsuccessfully to kick her mother out of the house. Soon after, she was sent to a rehab center. In the 1990s she posed nude for spreads in Andy Warhol's Interview and in Playboy magazine. In 1995, Drew shocked America by exposing herself to David Letterman on live TV, during his birthday celebrations on Late Night with David Letterman. In March 1994, at age 19, Drew married Jeremy Thomas and filed for divorce a month later, in April 1994. The tide turned for Drew in 1995 when she started her own production company - Flower Films. Since then she has produced 8 films, including the hugely successful Charlie's Angels. She has also directed a documentary Chose or Lose Parents: The Best Place to Start and a feature film Whip It. On the acting front, Drew has been giving consistently rock-solid performances from Scream to The Wedding Singer and from Charlie's Angels to Music and Lyrics.

Britney Spears

This pop diva has led a checkered life. From being the undisputed pop princess of America to being a role model for teenagers to getting into a downward spiral of alcohol and depression, and finally losing custody of her children - Britney has seen it all. Her marriage to Jason Allen Alexander that lasted just 55 hours, her getting in and out of rehab, kissing Madonna at the MTV Awards, and marriage and subsequent divorce from Kevin Federline - these scandals have kept the gossip mill busy. She has been every paparazzi's dream, providing them with plenty of tabloid fodder - she was caught driving with her son on her lap instead of the car seat, was snapped shaving her own head bald with electric clippers in a salon, and was clicked trying to smash Kevin's car. Britney touched the lowest point in her life when she lost physical custody of her 2 sons in October 2007 to Kevin. Fast-forwarding to 2011, Britney's latest album Femme Fatale has gone platinum and critics and fans are loving it. It debuted at number 1 in the US, making it her sixth number 1 album, breaking her own record for the youngest female artist with five number 1 albums. On the personal front too, she seems to be more settled. She told Glamour magazine, I don't like going out...I love my home and staying in bed and watching Dancing with the Stars or reading a Danielle Steel novel.

Let's hope for the sake of both Drew and Britney that all the scandals and dirt are behind them for good - after all, everybody likes a happy ending.
