Elizabeth Banks loves being involved in The Hunger Games movies, but don't expect her to show up on the red carpet in one of her costumes.

They are all torture, she said to reporters while doing press for the movie, People magazine reported.

Banks plays Effie Trinket, a public relations-type person who encourages the characters of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) to always look and behave their best.

The character dresses quite flamboyantly, as do most members of the story's corrupted Capitol.

According to the movie's costume designer, Judianna Makovsky, Banks was eager to dress for the part, even if it didn't always mean comfort.

She's so much fun to work with, Makovsky told New York Magazine of Banks. She tells people that she was my Barbie doll. But she has a lot of good ideas, she knows how things should fit, and she wanted all her clothes to be very constricting.

She also said that Banks was game for weird, uncomfortable outfits.

In the book, the fashions are so outrageous in the Capitol that they aren't meant to be actually worn, Makovsky told NYM. And that was the point: poking fun at fashion, and how outrageous trends can be.

Banks was grateful for Makovsky's help.

We've worked together before, and she just really knew my body and knew how to hang clothes on it, she said of Makovsky, People reported.

Banks did have one favorite costume: A green dress with very puffy sleeves.

I love that outfit, she said, according to People. It was the most comfortable.
