The U.S. pop star, Madonna, arrived at the 2011 Venice Film Festival on Thursday for the premiere of her directorial début W.E., a romantic drama.

The famed star, often dubbed “Material Girl” for her 1985 song performance, appeared at the 68th Venice Film Festival pretty much like one.

Madonna’s hairdo in blond locks and a pair of dangler earrings and bracelet – all in diamond – were reminiscent of much of her performance in the “Material Girl” song, which was inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend from the 1953 film “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.”

Madonna spread her charm walking down the red carpet in a floor-length grey gown adorned with bright red butterflies, designed by the Italian designer Vionnet, somehow resembling the “Material Girl” song video where she is followed by men and fans.

And as the American singer and songwriter put on a pair of red-rimmed sunglasses, it all added to Madonna’s “Material Girl” effect.

Have a look at the top fashion moments of Madonna, aka “Material Girl.”
