Ice-T has had a full year of scandals and filming “Law & Order: SVU,” but on Tuesday the rapper-turned-actor took a break on social media to show off his toned physique.

In a post on Twitter, he wrote, “This morning: MFs popin s--- … 55 years old. Don’t sleep on the old cats [sic].” Attached was a blurry photo of Ice-T posing in front of a mirror with his cellphone, wearing only black belted trousers and a baseball cap, and proudly displaying his toned abs. The photo comes just months after a heated altercation between the younger but lesser-known rapper AP.9.

Shortly after Ice-T uploaded the photo it was republished by TMZ, which hinted that the actor had taken a cue from Geraldo Rivera. Earlier in July, Rivera, 70, was widely mocked for posting a half-naked photo of himself on the social media platform, clad only from the waist down in a white towel.

Rivera later explained the photograph on his radio show to Eric Boiling, saying that he had been slightly inebriated and lonely at the time. "There I was, 2:30 in the morning on Sunday morning. You know, I do the show Saturday night, I did a great show on black-on-black crime and race relations and the Trayvon Martin fallout and federal charges ... and I get home and there's no one to talk to, everyone's asleep,” Rivera said. “And you just sit around, I had a drink and, you know, I had taken that picture Saturday morning and I was looking at it, just going through and I said 'you know, I gotta tweet this thing. I look pretty good for a 70-year-old.”

“And I think because I'm so old people will cut me some slack, they won't take it took seriously. And I just pushed the trigger," the newscaster added.

Ice-T, however, seemed to have missed the Rivera memo. “Wow! My stupid pic is all over the place today... I had no f----- idea Geraldo did some pic.. Crazy,” he tweeted hours later.

While the risqué photo seemed to come out of the blue for Ice, he may have been following the advice of his wife, Coco Austin, 34, who has a storied reputation for taking racy photos. The former dancer and glamor model, who demonstrated her twerking skills on “The Real” last week, actually got into trouble earlier this year over sultry photos she took with another rapper.

Austin was in Las Vegas, where she was performing her burlesque show “Peepshow,” when she posed for some photographs with West Coast rapper AP.9 that Ice deemed inappropriate. The series of provocative photos, in which AP.9 was seen laying his hands on her curves and kissing the reality star, were harmless according to Austin, but nonetheless led her husband to declare on Twitter that he felt “disrespected” by her.

The couple have appeared to move on from the scandal, despite repeated claims from AP.9 that his relationship with Austin went further, and that Austin might be pregnant with his child. AP.9 also released a series of text exchanges, supposedly with Ice-T, in which AP.9 alleged that he wasn’t trying to damage the couple’s reputation but merely wanted the truth to come out.

The couple have since said that their marriage is “totally fine.” In June they took a vacation together to Turks & Caicos.
