The characters from “Street Fighter” and “GI Joe” have always been a force to be reckoned with, but what would happen if they were pitted against each other? Capcom and IDW Publishing have decided to answer that question, as “Street Fighter X GI Joe” will be hitting comic book stores in February.

An article from Comic Book states that the conflict starts with a team-up between M. Bison and Destro, as they force the heroes from “Street Fighter” and “GI Joe” to combat each other in a deadly tournament. Can the World Warriors and the Joes take on an alliance between Shadaloo and Cobra? Fans will have to pick up the first issue in February and find out.

This secret tournament has 16 combatants, eight from “Street Fighter” and the other eight from “GI Joe.” So far, the characters confirmed for the comic series are Ryu, Chun-Li, Snake Eyes, Scarlett, Guile and Duke. More characters should be announced soon, or will be part of an exciting cliffhanger ending that most comic books are known for.

“Street Fighter X GI Joe” will be a six-issue mini-series published by IDW. The company has published numerous “GI Joe” comics in the past, including tie-ins to the films and stories set in the series’ ongoing continuity. This is also the first time IDW has worked with Capcom.

It should also be noted that this isn’t the first crossover the Joes have been a part of. IDW also published “GI Joe vs Transformers” and have even had them fight off zombies during the "Infested" crossover.

Aubrey Sitterson will be on writing duties, while Emilio Laiso will be drawing the comic. According to Newsarama, Sitterson has worked on other comic books like “Hulk,” “Superman” and “Tech Jacket,” while Laiso is most known for his work on indie comic book “Hack/Slash.”

The comic book’s February release date is pretty clever, as it’s the same month that sees the release of “Street Fighter V” on PS4 and PC. While its doubtful that characters from “GI Joe” will appear in the game, it should be fun seeing the World Warriors take them on in comic book form.
