U.S. stocks ended higher on Thursday as an earnings forecast by Texas Instruments Inc lifted chipmaker shares and a successful Treasury bond auction boosted confidence in U.S. assets.

The S&P rose for a fifth straight session, its longest winning streak since late November.

Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> rose 79.88 points, or 0.84 percent, to end unofficially at 9,627.10. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 10.75 points, or 1.04 percent, at 1,044.12. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 23.63 points, or 1.15 percent, at 2,084.02.
