The race to release the untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is nearing an end. Till now, you may have heard a lot from the jailbreakers telling you to wait patiently for the A5 jailbreak but, this time it seems the wait is going to end.
The French hacker pod2g recently posted a photo titled a jailbroken iPad 2 running iOS 5.0.1 with a few words - No more to say! (See following). But later, he removed the photo (we do not know the reason).

A few hours earlier, @planetbeing, a member of the dream team, also posted an image of a jailbroken iPad 2 (See below). He said, Been a productive day. Relieved to find out IntelliScreenX (an app I helped write) works on the 4S and iPad2. :)

Dream team member MuscleNerd also revealed some details about the A5 jailbreak. When a Twitter user asked him, With the new A5 jailbreak. Will it be able to jailbreak 5.0? Or just 5.0.1 Please answer, he said, 5.0 will be supported for at least the 4S, hopefully iPad2 (it matters more on 4S, due to potential BB-related issues).
All these indicate that the untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is in the final phase of release and the jaailbreak community need to hold on a little bit longer.
Early this week, pod2g released an iPhone 4S 5.0.1 untethered demo video, which suggested that the A5 untethered jailbreak could be released soon. The A4 untethered jailbreak was released just a few days after pod2g posted an iPhone 4 untethered demo video.
So far, non-A5 devices running iOS 5.0.1 can be jailbroken by PwnageTool, RedSn0w, or even Sn0wBreeze. But iPhone 4S and iPad 2 which are equipped by A5 chip, currently do not respond to the latest untethered jailbreak.
