The latest report from Good Technology shows that company heads from all over the world issue more iPhones and iPads than any Android devices for their employees!
Evidently iOS devices have become stronger in the business world while Android devices still lag far behind. The not-so-surprising news was published by iMore, citing Good Technology's latest data from their enterprise customers.
Good Technology's quarterly device activation report for the first quarter of 2012, which does not take into account the market penetration of the BlackBerry devices, provides a breakdown of top 10 smartphone and tablet devices activated amongst Good's enterprise customers, which include eight of the top 10 financial institutions, seven of the top 10 healthcare organizations, half of the Fortune 100 and companies from every major industry.
The report reveals that the first quarter of the current year was dominated by the iPhone 4S, which hit a record high, claiming the number one device spot overall and accounted for 37 percent of Good's activations, followed by the iPad 2 with 17.7 percent. The new iPad, within first one and half months of its launch, has also made quite an impressive impact on the customers and claimed 12.1 percent in Good's Top 10 device list.
Meanwhile, amongst Android devices, the Motorola Droid took the top spot with 1.6 percent of all activations, making it the seventh-most popular device for the quarter. Overall, Android smartphones represented 26.1 percent of all activations for the quarter, while Android tablets came in at 2.7 percent.

According to Good, the uniformity of the devices and enterprise-friendly features are one of the major reasons that Apple devices have an edge over the Android.
While the results demonstrate that companies in recent times continue to embrace the bring your own device (BYOD) trend and accept new devices into the enterprise, the company mentions that as RIM devices use the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for corporate email access, Good does not have the insight into BlackBerry handset activation trends and, therefore, they are not reflected in this report. And the same goes for the Windows Phones, which are also not taken into account in the latest report. But Good Technology released its Windows Phone client April 2012 and Windows Phone 7.5 device activations and, therefore, the Windows operating phones will be included in Q2 2012 report.
In short, Apple seems to be the invincible ruler in the tablet market in 2011 and Q1 2012 and Android tablets could not match up to the enterprise popularity of the iPads. The situation might change with the release of the much-talked-about Windows tablets later this year, hopes Good. Till that time, the company has announced the iPad as the de facto enterprise tablet standard, especially in verticals such as Financial Services, Business and Professional Services, Life Sciences and Healthcare.
