Around 250,000 people have been ordered to leave their homes after torrential rain caused severe flooding in south-west Japan, officials said Saturday.

Landslides and flood waters have killed around 20 people on the southern island of Kyushu over the last few days, according to the BBC.

Japanese media sources reported Friday that seven people were still missing and the Japanese Self-Defense Force has been called in to help with the search.
