Jessica Jones Teaser
A new trailer for "Marvel's Jessica Jones" introduces Jessica's (Krysten Ritter, pictured) nemesis. Netflix

The new “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” trailer finally shows the superhero's face, but every hero needs a nemesis. The promo also teases the arrival of Zebediah Killgrave, played by “Doctor Who” veteran David Tennant. Though he is known to many sci-fi fans as the lovable Doctor, it’s clear that he’ll be anything but kindhearted in the new Netflix drama.

Unlike past promos for the action series, there aren’t too many Marvel Easter eggs for fans to find. There are, however, teasers about the actual plot. Jessica (Krysten Ritter) appears to be in her office at Alias Investigations, her private investigation business. She is pinning surveillance photographs to a wall at 2:23 a.m.

“Jessica,” Killgrave’s voice says. “I know your secrets. I know about your friends, about your gifts. Jessica, Jessica Jones.”

The collage of photos on the wall slowly transforms into Killgrave’s eyes. “I know everything,” he says.

Zebediah Killgrave is Jessica’s enemy in the comics, but readers will notice an immediate difference from the source material. Killgrave was also known as Purple Man because of the hue of his skin. Tennant’s face certainly doesn’t appear to be bright purple in the promo.

The trailer is the latest in a series of promos for “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” ahead of its November debut. The show will follow the titular character as she runs a P.I. business after abandoning life as a superhero. After a developing post-traumatic stress disorder, Jessica ditched her superhero career, but it’ll be tough for a woman that can fly and has super strength to avoid being heroic.

With the “Jessica Jones” cast set to appear at New York Comic-Con on Saturday, fans should expect more spoilers to come out very soon.

“Marvel’s Jessica Jones” Season 1 will premiere on Netflix Nov. 20. The series is the second of several planned Marvel series on Netflix. The show was preceded by “Daredevil,” and “Luke Cage” and “Iron Fist” will follow. All four series will eventually crossover for a miniseries called “The Defenders.”
