Joe Jackson, father of the late Michael Jackson, suffered a stroke Thursday morning and is being treated in a Las Vegas hospital, a source close to the Jackson family told CNN.

The 83-year-old Jackson family patriarch is reportedly “in very good spirits” and expects to be sent home Friday, the unidentified source told the newswire.

Further reports indicate that the “mild” stroke was similar to two others Jackson had suffered in the past five years.

Jackson has long been credited with managing the Jackson 5, the legendary R&B and pop group made up of his sons, including the former king of pop Michael Jackson.

Joe Jackson, who was portrayed by Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs in the 1992 biopic “The Jacksons: An American Dream,” is still married to Jackson matriarch Katherine Jackson, but they live separately.

He has a home in Las Vegas, while his wife lives in Calabasas, Calif., with Michael Jackson's three children.

Despite his age, Jackson remains active in developing and promoting several businesses and products, according to CNN.
