President Donald Trump lashed out at NBC on Twitter Wednesday morning after it was announced that the network fired "Today" show anchor Matt Lauer for alleged sexual misconduct. Trump specifically went after MSNBC host and former U.S. Rep. Joe Scarborough, who previously served as a four-term Congressman: “And will they terminate low ratings Joe Scarborough based on the “unsolved mystery” that took place in Florida years ago? Investigate!”

The mystery Trump is referring to is the death of one of Scarborough’s district office workers. In July 2001, 28-year-old Lori Klausutis, who had worked for Scarborough for about two years, was found dead at Scarborough's office in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

A Florida medical examiner ruled the death an accident. The examiner, Dr. Michael Berkland, said that Klausutis had an undiagnosed heart condition that caused her to faint and fall. Her official cause of death was a blood clot that resulted from head trauma she appeared to have sustained in the fall. The examiner said “she hit a desk with the side of her head” when she fell.

“Looks like I picked a good day to stop responding to Trump's bizarre tweets. He is not well,” responded Scarborough on Twitter on Wednesday morning.

Scarborough’s brother, George Scarborough, who was a Trump supporter, took to Twitter to demand an apology from the president.

“Outrageous reference re @JoeNBC where @potus @realDonaldTrump just crossed the line with me. I need to see a public apology to my brother Joe or else he has lost my support for good ... which is saying a ton given all the support I’ve shown him in past 2 years,” he tweeted.

Scarborough, 54, has hosted "Morning Joe" since 2007 and previously served as host of "Scarborough Country" from April 2003 to June 2007. A former Republican, Scarborough has since become an independent.

Before the 2016 presidential election, Scarborough received criticism for being too close to Trump, but has since shifted his stance. In June, Trump lashed out at Scarborough’s co-host and fiancé Mika Brzezinski, for her appearance and intellect.

“I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don't watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year's Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!” tweeted the president in June.
