Joel Silver is facing a lawsuit for the death of his assistant.

A lawsuit has reportedly been filed against the “Die Hard” producer for wrongful death after his assistant, Carmel Musgrove, was found dead in Bora Bora during Justin Theroux and Jennifer Aniston’s honeymoon in 2015, Us Weekly reported. Silver’s personal assistant, Musgrove was reportedly traveling with him for work-related events.

On Friday, Musgrove’s estate and parents sued Silver, his company Silver Pictures and his personal chef, Martin Herold, for wrongful death, accusing him of providing his employee with drugs. “She, Herold, the Silver-related guests, along with a larger entourage of movie stars and their family members, stayed at the Four Seasons Hotel by occupying over 40 bungalows as part of Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s honeymoon celebration,” attorney Brian Watkins said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Sometime between August 4, 2015, and her death on August 19, 2015, Defendant Herold provided Carmel (and possibly others) with cocaine.”

The day before Musgrove died, she went on a fishing trip and had lunch and dinner with Silver’s family. For all of these occasions, there was alcohol. Later that night, Musgrove drank with Herold, and the two did drugs in his bungalow.

At around 11 p.m., Musgrove returned to her own room and asked the front desk for matches. She reportedly sent Herold a message that read “Xxx” at midnight. The person who delivered the match was the last to see her alive. After over a day of searching, her body was found floating on the banks of a nearby lagoon 500 yards away from her bungalow.

According to the French authorities, Musgrove’s death was due to overconsumption of alcohol, consumption of cocaine, fatigue caused by overwork, heat stroke after the fishing trip and a midnight swim in unfavorable weather conditions. Musgrove’s family claimed that Silver and Herold contributed four of the five factors.

Following Musgrove’s death, Silver’s publicist released a statement (via THR) that said, “Joel Silver, his family, and his staff are devastated by the passing of Carmel Musgrove. Carmel was a dear friend and respected colleague with a very bright future ahead of her. They will all miss her dearly.”

Silver has not yet commented on the lawsuit. The Hollywood producer has a number of big films under his belt, including “The Matrix,” “V for Vendetta” and “Lethal Weapon.”
