Fugitive software tycoon John McAfee, who is wanted for questioning over the murder of his American neighbor in Belize, arrived in Miami Wednesday night.

McAfee’s arrival in the U.S. facilitates his immediate evasion of questioning in the case, in which he is identified as "a person of interest."

Following the murder of Florida builder Gregory Faull, who was his neighbor, on the island of Ambergris Caye Nov.11, McAfee and his 20-year-old girlfriend, Samantha Vanegas, had been on the run.

McAfee has strongly denied any involvement in the case. Faull was found dead, shot in the head, after he had a heated quarrel with McAfee.

The anti-virus pioneer was arrested Dec.5, after he slipped across the border into Guatemala, the AFP has reported.

Apparently, a blog post written shortly after his arrival entitled, "I am in South Beach," revealed how he was stationed at a hotel on Miami's South Beach with "no phone, no money, and no contact information."

"I was escorted off the plane by Customs and Immigration. 'We are here to help you sir,' the Captain said. There were 10 agents and they whisked me to a safe place, asked some questions and then said 'Where would you like to go?'. To a Taxi stand. They did," he wrote, according to the AFP.

However, the blog post has been edited within a few hours of its posting, requesting privacy from the media: "Please respect John's privacy this evening. We have contacted Sam, and are putting her in touch with John. Thanks everyone for your support."

Earlier, last week, Guatemalan authorities arrested McAfee and his girlfriend at a hotel in the capital city. McAfee spent a week in a detention center after which a judge ordered his immediate deportation observing that he was in the country illegally.

In an interview with reporters in Guatemala, McAfee stated that travelling to Miami was his only option. "I can't take a flight that stops in any other country and there are only two flights going to America today. I'm happy to be going home," he said.

McAfee flew alone, having tweeted earlier that he and Vanegas had been "forcibly separated". He hoped that she would join him in the U.S. later, the Guardian has reported.
