Jon Stewart is kicking himself for not recognizing that one of his "Daily Show" guests was set to become the subject of a major scandal.

Last week, news broke that married CIA director David Petraeus had an affair with former military officer Paula Broadwell, who penned his biography "All In: The Education of General David Petraeus.”

On Monday night, Stewart compiled segments of his interview with Broadwell that aired earlier this year and joked that it was full of innuendo.

“He loves serving. He loves being in the arena,” Broadwell said in the cheekilly edited clip. “I thought I was going to test him, but he was going to test me. ... He crushed his pelvis but he was back in the swimming pool. ... He can turn water into bottled water.”

“The f---king thing never crossed my mind. I am the worst journalist in the world. For God’s sake, the title of her book was 'All In.' She may as well have called the book 'What’s Got Two Thumbs and Is Banging His Biographer? This guy.'"

During the "Weekend Update" segment on "Saturday Night Live," Seth Meyers also poked fun at the book's title.

Stewart's January interview with Broadwell, in which Stewart invited her husband to the stage to participate in a pushup contest, has spiked in viewership since news of her affair with Petraeus.

According to the Washington Post, news of the affair became public knowledge after a woman from Tampa, Jill Kelly, complained that Broadwell was harassing her via email. Following an investigation into her email account, the FBI discovered evidence of her affair with Petraeus.
