Kate Middleton can add scuba diver to her resume. The Duchess of Cambridge recently passed the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Advanced Open Water Diver qualification, allowing her to dive 98 feet deep in the water, Kensington Palace confirmed to the Telegraph.

This allows the Duke and Duchess to dive together. Prince William has been a qualified diver for several years. He is even the president of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC).

“Diving is something the Duchess very much enjoys, and the Duke of Cambridge, who is of course President of the BSAC, has said in the past that he is hopeful his children will become interested in the sport,” a spokesperson told the Telegraph.

It seems diving has been a family pastime for generations. William took over the presidential position after his father Prince Charles held the position. Before that, William's grandfather was in the role, according to the Mirror. If Prince George or Princess Charlotte like the water, one of them might be the next president of the BSAC.

Only time will tell if George, 2, and Charlotte, 2 months, will follow in their parents’ footsteps, but they'll likely be raised with plenty of different sports. Both of their parents enjoy athletic activities, especially those in the water. In college, Kate was on the rowing team while William was on the waterpolo team. Just last week, Kate attended the America’s Cup World Series where she spoke to children about how much sailing she has done.

William previously addressed his hopes for his children to love scuba diving at a BSAC event in July 2014. “Scuba diving really has opened my eyes not only to many extraordinary sights, but also to the responsibilities that we have as guardians of the underwater world,” he said, according to Hello. “I hope that one day my son, George, will also experience the wonders that snorkeling and scuba diving have to offer.”

However, it seems they have a while before that happens. William joked that he and Kate were having a hard enough time getting their son in the bathtub. “At the moment bath time is quite painful, but hopefully donning a snorkel and mask might calm him down,” the Duke of Cambridge joked, People reports.

With family vacations to exotic locales like Mustique, Charlotte and George will have plenty of beautiful places where they can dive if they love it as much as their parents.
