Katy Perry performed her smash dance single "Birthday" for the first time on television during the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, and belted it out in spectacular fashion, although remotely.

During the awards ceremony, which occured live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, a green-haired Perry delivered a stunning rendition of the song while performing at the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena in North East England during her recently started Prismatic world tour. And as "Birthday" got a particularly flamboyant Perry treatment, the singer blew out birthday candles, Billboard reported.

Perry even invited a fan who was celebrating her birthday to join her on the stage, but then, the sexy singer flew away from the spinning cake and backup dancers, riding a zipline over the audience, which made it seem as if she was floating away.

"Birthday" is the latest single from Perry's third studio album "PRISM," which debuted at No. 1 upon its release in October 2013. According to Billboard, the single rises up four spots to No. 25 on this week's Hot 100 chart.

Perry was just one of the big-name performers at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, which had already showcased performances by 5 Seconds of Summer, Shakira, Florida Georgia Line, Ariana Grande, Iggy Azalea and others. Perry was a finalist for Top Artist at the Billboard Music Awards, along with Miley Cyrus, Imagine Dragons, Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake.
