Kelly Ripa will announce her new co-host Sept. 4 during "Live! With Kelly" and she's made it known that her friend Anderson Cooper would be her dream candidate, but would he be better than Regis?

Regis and Kelly were known for a quirky banter that provoked laughter from their audiences. Every morning Regis would be drinking his coffee, with Sweet and Low, and chit chat with the former "All My Children" actress while they discussed what was new and interviewed celebrities.

Even though the 80-year-old Philbin tearfully left the show in November 2011, Ripa has been doing a standup job hosting the show along with 59 different co-hosts, the Huffington Post reported. Her celebrity co-hosts have included the likes of Anderson Cooper, Jerry Seinfeld, Neil Patrick Harris, Nick Lachey, Seth Meyers, Jerry O'Connell, Cat Deeley, Josh Groban and even Kim Kardashian.

Ripa's husband Mark Consuelos, 41, hosted the show with her many times, but Ripa revealed that he could never be a permanent fixture on the show.

"No one would make me happier than Mark, but he values our marriage," Ripa explained to Vanity Fair. "He says that he doesn't see how we could stay married and both do that show."

Ripa then hinted to Us Weekly in August that it would be her dream to work with Anderson Cooper on "Live! With Kelly."

"We have a connection like nobody else," Ripa said to the magazine. "I worship him!"

Cooper's a respected journalist known for delivering breaking news for CNN, but would he be able to transform into Kelly Rippa's playful co-host?

Unfortunately for Ripa, Cooper is more than busy with "Anderson Cooper 360" on CNN and his own syndicated talk show -- so "the search continues," Ripa said.

"It's fun [to see different co-hosts], but you want the girl to settle down!" Ripa joked to Us Weekly.

It's been rumored that front runners to host the show with Ripa are Seth Meyers, 38, and Josh Groban, 31, but if Anderson Cooper were able to make time in his busy schedule for Ripa do you think he'd be the perfect co-host to fill Philbin's shoes?
