Kim Kardashian West is not expecting twins, this according to a source reportedly close to the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star. The multiples rumor surfaced on Tuesday after the 34-year-old reality star announced she was pregnant with her second child .

Kim reportedly underwent fertility treatments using in vitro, a medical procedure that often increases the likelihood that a pregnant woman will give birth to twins, ahead of her latest pregnancy. A source close to the star told People on Tuesday that Kim was having difficulties conceiving after her first pregnancy with husband Kanye West. Her birth to daughter North in 2013 include a complicated delivery due to preeclampsia, a condition in which a woman’s blood pressure increases during pregnancy. She also faced placenta accreta, when blood vessels from the placenta grow into the uterine wall.

“Kim also had three surgeries to repair her uterus,” the source said to People. “The inner lining had been so damaged that she was told conceiving on her own wasn’t possible.”

Kim reportedly underwent IVF treatments with hormones for four months, which were unsuccessful. The next month, she is said to have conceived on her natural cycle, without hormones.

The E! reality star announced her pregnancy on May 31, but hasn’t revealed her due date. She did tell Us Weekly that she was experiencing severe morning sickness, which is common for women during their first trimesters.

“To be honest, I’ve had really bad morning sickness, day sickness, night sickness — I can barely get out of bed,” Kim said to the magazine on the red carpet at the 2015 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City on Monday. “It’s a very different type of pregnancy from my first one, but I'm so grateful to be pregnant when we didn't even think it was going to happen for us [so] I don't care how sick I am.”
