An officer-involved shooting Friday in front of the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas prompted police to close a part of the city’s tourist spot, according to reports. Police said that Las Vegas Boulevard was closed in both directions from Flamingo Road to Tropicana Avenue and they were investigating the shooting.

Police told Fox5Vegas news network that officers opened fire at an armed man, who shot at them, Friday evening at the tourist place. The suspect was waving his gun and pointing at tourists in front of the Bellagio, the report added.

Metro police told LasVegasNow.com that a child was grazed by a bullet and the suspect was taken into custody. The suspect, whose identity was not released, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, according to the news network.

Metro police shut down eastbound Flamingo from Interstate 15 to Las Vegas Boulevard, Fox5Vegas reported. The police reportedly said that investigation into the matter would take several hours to complete.
