Superman may be a hero, but Clark Kent still answers to Perry White. The newest film to enter the Superman franchise, "Man of Steel," has gained its White in the form of Laurence Fishburne.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Fishburne is the latest cast member to join the Zack Snyder-directed and Christopher Nolan-produced reboot of the series.

Fishburne's casting comes on the heels of his departure this May from the CBS series "CSI," on which he starred for two seasons, and will be replaced by Ted Danson in the fall.

The editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet is known as a tough, no-nonsense journalist and boss of both Clark Kent and Lois Lane. The role of Perry White was previously played by Jackie Cooper next to Christopher Reeve and Frank Langella in director Bryan Singer's "Superman Returns."

Man of Steel will be directed by Zack Snyder (Sucker Punch), produced by Christopher Nolan (Inception) and written by David Goyer (Batman Begins).

Other current members of the cast include Henry Cavill as Clark Kent (a.k.a Superman), Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as General Zod, Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

"Man of Steel" is set to begin filming in the fall with a release date for June 14, 2013.
