The 2012 Laureus World Sports Awards were announced at a red carpet event in London Monday.

The World No.1 tennis star, Novak Djokovic, and Kenyan distance runner, Vivian Cheruiyot, were named the best Sportsman and Sportswomen of the Year while FC Barcelona was declared as the best Team of the Year.

The annual awards are meant to honor outstanding sports stars and teams who have performed exceptionally well in the previous year.

Here is the complete list of winners:

Laureus World Sportsman of the Year - Novak Djokovic

The three Grand Slam winner, Serbia's Novak Djokovic was acclaimed Laureus World Sportsman of the Year after his remarkable achievements in the year 2011.

Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year- Vivian Cheruiyot

Kenya's extraordinary distance runner, Vivian Cheruiyot, was named the Laureus Sportswoman of the Year Award. She has won both 5,000 and 10,000 meters gold medals at the World Championships in Daegu.

Laureus World Team of the Year- FC Barcelona

The Champions league and Spanish Leagues winner, FC Barcelona, won the Laureus World Team of the Year Award.

Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year- Rory McIlroy

The U.S. Open winner, young sports star- Rory McIlroy, 22, was named winner of the Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year Award.

Laureus Comeback Award - Darren Clarke

Darren Clarke, 42, received the Laureus Comeback Award after winning Open Championship at Royal St.George's at his 20th attempt.

Laureus Disability Award- Oscar Pistorius

South African runner, Oscar Pistorius, was presented with the Laureus Disability Award. He is the first amputee to win a track medal in the non-disabled World Championships, and a silver in the 4 x 400 metres relay.

Laureus Action Sportsperson of the Year- Kelly Slater

The four-time Laureus Award winner, Kelly Slater, received another one for Action Sportsperson of the Year.

Laureus Lifetime Achievement Award- Bobby Charlton

England football star Bobby Charlton was awarded the Laureus Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding achievements and performance during his career.

Laureus Sport for Good Award- Raí

Rai, a former Brazilian international footballer who is presently a campaigner for social justice, was awarded the Laureus Sport for Good Award.
