The latest iPhone 5 prototype has been spotted in the wild as leaked photos reveal a man handling a device that looks very similar to Apple's next generation smartphone. A slim mobile device was black and contained the famous Apple logo on the back.

According to a tipster, the description of the device was neither an iPod Touch, iPhone 4, or iPhone 3GS.

"He told us he was able to get a very good look at the device but the pictures he snapped did not do it justice," wrote Seth Weintraub on 9to5 Mac.

The tipster was in doubt what he saw was an actual iPhone 5 prototype, but after reviewing photos it matched well with potential case designs such as the camera location and slimmer body. The screen was reported to be "Evolike" and appeared larger than past iPhones, perhaps keeping true to the edge to edge display rumors.

There were also curvy rounded metal edges on the prototype which appeared similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The front display screen and home button was not visible as the man had his fingers covering it, perhaps to hide the device. But if rumors are true, the enlarged home button area may utilize a touch sensor pad.

According to the tipster, the man holding the prototype was an employee at Apple. 9to5 Mac verified the authenticity of the content provided by the tipster an claimed that it was credible.
