Moniece Slaughter took to Instagram to update fans on her journey to quit smoking, revealing that she recently suffered two mini strokes. The “Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood” star assured fans that she was OK, but said the pain she was going through was “self-inflicted” because of the many years she was a smoker.

“I spent all week in and out of the hospital,” Moniece captioned a photo of her wearing a breathing mask. “Today my doctor told me I had two mini strokes, my right lung was inflamed, but clear, my blood work was A1 (no cancerous cells etc) no abnormalities growing in my throat or lungs. Perfect heart.”

The VH1 star and mother of one went on to say that she’s still on a “very hard, very painful journey” to quit for good.

“[My doctor] said my lungs are getting rid of the damaged bronchi and reproducing new bronchi,” she added. “There’s nothing they can do except try to make me comfortable while my body goes through this process. I was told total restoration of my lungs would be about 3 yrs! CRAZY! #quitforkam.”

Earlier this week, Moniece revealed that she decided to stop smoking after Angela “Big Ang” Raiola’s death. As previously reported, the 55-year-old “Mob Wives” star lost her battle to cancer on Feb. 21. Big Ang told Dr. Oz before her death that her cancer was caused by years of smoking cigarettes.

In a post on Wednesday, Moniece begged her followers to join her in quitting.

“Let’s help each other quit for good! After the loss of @bigangvh1 I’ve taken the initiative to get checked out and quit smoking. Over the past week my respiratory health has drastically changed and it hurts like a b----,” she posted. “I’ve never been more afraid of the consequences of smoking.”
