The first trailer of Luc Besson’s new sci-fi thriller, “Lucy,” which features Scarlett Johansson as a superhuman who gains her powers from drugs, released online Wednesday, after premiering at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last week.

Johansson plays Lucy, a drug mule in a futuristic Taiwan, who wakes up to find drugs surgically inserted into her body. However, after she's kicked around by bad guys, the package bursts inside her and she finds herself blessed with superpowers.

"Somebody put a bag of drugs inside me. I need you to take it out. It's leaking,” Johansson says in the trailer.

The thriller also stars Morgan Freeman, who appears in the trailer as a researcher investigating advanced brain capacities.

"It is estimated most human beings only use 10% of the brain's capacity," Freeman says in one scene. "Imagine if we could access 100%. Interesting things begin to happen."

Johansson, 29, last starred in the Oscar-winning movie, “Her,” and is set to appear in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" and "Under the Skin," both of which open Friday. She will also star in Jon Favreau's comedy, "Chef," which is set to release in May.

“Lucy” also stars Analeigh Tipton, Min-sik Choi, Amr Waked and Mason Lee, and is set release on Aug. 8.
