  • The highly anticipated iPhone 12 series might not arrive on Apple's usual flagship smartphone launch window
  • The delayed launch and release of the iPhone 12 series was hinted by Broadcom's CEO
  • Apple has not yet confirmed if the rumored iPhone 12 series is in development

Apple’s next flagship smartphone is expected to launch sometime in Sept. 2020. While the Cupertino tech giant has not yet confirmed this information, a new statement from the top executive of Apple’s major supplier hinted that launch of the iPhone 12 series might face some delays. The information came from the CEO of Broadcom, the company responsible for the production of WiFi chips found in most iPhones in the market.

A recent report from Bloomberg revealed that the CEO of Broadcom hinted of a possible delayed launch window of the iPhone 12. Instead of the usual Sept debut, the upcoming flagship series might launch in the fourth quarter of 2020. The CEO was quoted at the company’s recent earnings call.

Chief Executive Officer Hock Tan told investors at the quarterly meeting that it is banking on a delayed release of the iPhone 12 lineup. The publication said that the top executive did not directly mention the Cupertino tech company but referred to it as a "large North American mobile phone customer." He noted that the said company is currently facing a significant product delay.

The latest statement of Broadcom’s CEO seemingly aligns with the latest report from the Taiwan-based publication Digitimes. The site claims that the iPhone 12 series might arrive in Oct 2020 and will enter into production in July 2020. The Taiwan-based publication further reveals that the iPhone 12 Max and the iPhone 12 Pro would be produced first since Apple is utilizing various touch systems for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

With the current global health crisis and its effect in various supply chains, it is no longer surprising to hear delays in the launch and release windows. It was reported earlier that the Cupertino tech giant intends to decrease its handset production by 20 percent this year. Apple has not yet said anything related to its next flagship iPhone series.

Based on earlier leaks and rumors, it looks like Apple would launch four iPhone 12 models this year. A recent leak from the Japanese blog site MacOtakara showed mockup images of the upcoming models. Moreover, it looks like Apple has not made massive design changes to the iPhone 12 series models.
