In a bid to wake up his dead girlfriend, a man from Connecticut landed behind bars as he had sex with the deceased.

The 39-year-old Aaron Graser has been sentenced to a year in prison after he pleaded guilty to fourth-degree sexual assault of a corpse and violation of probation Tuesday at Superior Court in Danielson. However, he was spared from being registered on the state’s sex offender list because according to the judge the case did not require any registration with regards to public safety as per the available facts.

Graser’s girlfriend was found dead by the Willimantic police in January. The police investigated the matter after they received a 911 call about a dead woman. They had also found heroin and needles around the woman. Later, an autopsy report confirmed that the woman had died a couple of hours before 911 was called and that the woman was dead when Graser had sex with her.

The Hartford Courant reported that the prosecutor said to the judge, “Graser had sex with a woman who had expired.”

According to the report in the Hartford Courant, Graser informed police that when he saw his girlfriend not responding to him and sitting on the bed with heroin and drug paraphernalia in her lap, he tried to wake her up. Talking about the ligature marks on the woman’s wrists and ankles, Graser confessed that he had tied the woman’s ankles and wrists to bedposts and had sex with her.

Graser claimed that he couldn’t realize if his girlfriend was dead because he could hear her body making noises.

According to reports the arrest warrant for Graser read, “Aaron stated he listened to see if the victim was breathing and he heard gurgling. Aaron stated he knew the victim hated having sex with him so he figured that the victim might wake up if he had sex with her.”

A toxicology report clarified the fact that the woman’s body had high levels of fentanyl, heroin, and another synthetic drug. It also confirmed that she died from a drug overdose.

Graser was initially charged with second-degree assault but agreed to plead guilty to the lesser charge.

Earlier, in October, a male nurse was arrested after he was caught having sex with the corpse of a patient who had just died from lung problems. The patient’s husband who had left his deceased wife momentarily to pay the hospital bills was taken aback after returning as he found the nurse having sex with his dead wife’s body in the morgue at the Hospital de Clinicas in La Paz, Bolivia.

According to reports, the Bolivian police Douglas Uzquiano said in a statement, “At the time, the deceased had been transferred to the morgue. The husband returns and finds that this man of 27 years was engaging in relations with the corpse of his wife.

He added, “The nursing assistant was committing the crime of necrophilia ... so he (the husband) beat him until the uniformed security arrived.”
