Manchester United made it a 19th successive home league win -- a club record -- although it was thoroughly unconvincing and there was none of the invincible aura about them that was ever-present during the initial days of the season.

Norwich, in contrast, was hugely impressive and made numerous chances. Eventually, their wastefulness cost them while United's decisiveness in front of goal -- key to their triumphs this season -- gave them three points.

Anderson scored midway through the second half, and although Norwich rallied, a late Danny Welbeck goal killed any hope the Canaries had of snatching a draw.

The win kept the victors on top of the table courtesy of their goal difference, followed by Man City, which is level on points but is one goal behind in goal difference.
