Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who previously claimed that he would not make any new additions to his team when the January transfer window opens, is currently monitoring Italian Serie A club Atalanta starlet, Manolo Gabbiadini, who he has admired for a long time.

Gabbiadini, who has bagged 10 goals in just 13 appearances this season for Atalanta, made his mark during a loan stint at Cittadella last season and has since cemented his position in Atalanta's frontline with a powerful physique that has proven to be difficult for many Serie A defenses.

Even if Sir Alex is unable to sign the 20-year-old during the January transfer window, it is expected that a spot in the club will open up in the summer for the player, when the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen depart the club.

Ferguson, lately, has also drafted youngsters like David de Gea and Phil Jones to compliment the older team members and Gabbiadini may be a part of the continuing trend.

The player has also attracted massive attention from Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus, according to a Metro report.
