Maria Sharapova attended the 2011 ESPY Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday looking stunning in a simple black ensemble. The leggy tennis athlete, 24, was wearing a custom made Alexander McQueen dress.

Sharapova was at the ESPY Awards as a presenter. She joined NBA pro Amar'e Stoudemire and actress Rachel Nichols in presenting the Best Upset award.

Sharapova, a Wimbledon finalist, will soon be heading to Japan to help victims of Japan. Joining her will be Caroline Wozniacki, and Li Na. The women will meet with children from the Fukushima Prefecture. The disaster hit home for Sharapova, whose parents Yuri and Yelena, had to flee the city of Gomel in Belarus after the Chernobyl plant in the Ukraine exploded. Sharapova was not yet born, but it still had an effect on the athlete.

Even though something like that happened such a long time ago, it still causes many people on a daily basis, especially kids that were born and now are having kids, you find that they have something in their body that's not allowing them to live a normal life from the pollution, she said.
