Mariah Carey turned 47 this Monday, and the famous Hollywood diva opted to celebrate her birthday with boyfriend Bryan Tanaka, away from her kids with Nick Cannon. Though the “Emotions” hitmaker did not show her fans on Instagram how she commemorated her special day, she did flaunt the special gift she got for the occasion.

On the day of her birthday — which she prefers calling as anniversary — Carey took to the photo-sharing site to show off the gift she received before the festivities started. In the photo, Carey is seen holding a present while she’s sitting on the couch. The Grammy-winning artist did not reveal what’s inside the box, but her fans — the lamblies — were happy for her.

Many fans left Cannon’s ex-wife with greetings and well-wishes on her Instagram account. One fan wrote: “Happy Anniversary or Happy Birthday to my fave whistle register singer!” Another commented: “Happy Anniversary to my dearest diva! Wishing you all the best in life.”

While Carey was tight-lipped on how she was going to celebrate her birthday, her boyfriend wasn’t. Tanaka took to Instagram to share a snap of him and Carey while they are relaxing in a tropical getaway. In the caption, the back-up dancer revealed that they went to a “relaxing chic environment” for the singer’s anniversary.

In another update from Tanaka, it appears that the lovers were in a luxe villa by the beach enjoying some quiet time while away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Tanaka even stated in the caption that he is “soaking in the moment” and recalibrating his spirit by engaging in “a little zen time.”

This is the first time that Carey is celebrating her birthday with Tanaka. The singer outed her romance with the professional dancer back in February by referring to him as her “boyfriend” during an interview with the Associated Press. “I just don’t feel comfortable talking about my personal life. … Me and my boyfriend don’t want to do that,” she said at the time.

Since making their relationship public, Carey and Tanaka have been spotted going out on multiple dates. For St. Patrick’s Day, Carey even took the time to reunite with Tanaka after hosting a leprechaun-themed party for her twins, Moroccan Scott and Monroe.
