U.S. stocks rose in choppy trade on Thursday after data pointed to stabilization in the U.S. labor market and a brokerage raised its view on bellwether 3M Co

The data and upgrade tempered unease over the yet-to-be detailed European rescue deal for debt-ridden Greece.

The energy and technology sectors were also among the top boosts.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 87.29 points, or 0.87 percent, at 10,125.67. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 7.46 points, or 0.70 percent, at 1,075.59. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 22.06 points, or 1.03 percent, at 2,169.93.
