U.S. stocks trimmed gains and the Nasdaq briefly slipped into negative territory at midday on Friday, with shares of Oracle Corp leading technology stocks lower.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 16.56 points, or 0.15 percent, at 10,857.77. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 1.88 points, or 0.16 percent, at 1,167.61. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> added 0.24 points, or 0.01 percent, at 2,397.65.
