Jamie Otis has been promoting her book and her jewelry line, despite suffering a miscarriage last week. Her decision to continue working has prompted some criticism from followers, but the “Married at First Sight” star has decided to defend herself.

“I just deleted a comment that suggested I am ‘using this time to make money by selling jewelry and a book’ ... Pardon me for speaking frankly on this topic but I can't resist,” Jamie wrote in a comment on Facebook.

The reality star has been blogging about coping with the end of her pregnancy, but she has also been encouraging fans to buy her book, “Wifey 101: Everything I Got Wrong After Finding Mr. Right,” and her jewelry line.

It was her husband Doug Hehner, whom she met in 2014 on her wedding day on FYI’s “Married at First Sight,” who encouraged her to get back to working even though she was still grieving her miscarriage. “Last night my husband Douglas Hehner and I were talking and he told me I NEED to get back to working. That is the only way to begin coping and healing,” she wrote.

She isn’t so sure she’d hear judgmental comments if she were working her other job as a labor and delivery nurse. She explained that she isn’t currently working at a hospital because of her living situation. She is registered to be a nurse in New York and had been commuting to the city from New Jersey. However, once she realized that she and Doug wanted to buy a house further from New York, she decided to stop working in the city. Though she is in the midst of switching her nursing license to New Jersey, she can’t start working in a New Jersey hospital until the paperwork is done.

“The only way I can go back to work to support myself and my family - and to begin healing - is via my jewelry business and yes, book sales... Two projects that I've worked hard on and I LOVE working with,” Jamie emphasized. “Shame on you for trying to make me feel like less of a human being for going back to work.”

The TV personality announced her miscarriage on July 13, just a week after revealing she was four months pregnant. “Our Baby Hehner was just too beautiful for earth. I love him so much - ALWAYS will - and can't wait to meet him in heaven one day,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Please pray for us.”

Jamie has been publicly grieving the loss by blogging about her pain and coping methods. Earlier this week, she revealed that she named the baby she lost Johnathan Edward Hehner. Read more about why she chose the name here.
