Eddie Murphy is claiming to be retired, but that does not mean he has stopped living life. In fact, Murphy was seen with his new girlfriend, Paige Butcher, on the red carpet on Friday.
Murphy was seen hand-in-hand with Butcher walking down the red carpet for the taping of “Eddie Murphy: One Night Only,” in Beverly Hills, Calif., reports the New York Post. The tribute to Murphy will air on Spike TV on Nov. 14.
Murphy, star of “Beverly Hills Cop,” “The Nutty Professor” franchise and last seen in this year's “A Thousand Words,” still has some roles lined up, but according to comments made on the red carpet, Murphy has considered himself to be retired. He said, "I'm just a retired old song and dance man," reports The Associated Press.
Eddie Murphy is set to produce the television series based on his 1984 hit “Beverly Hills Cop," which will follow Detective Axel Foley's son, Aaron Foley. He told Extra some of his greatest regrets include turning down roles in “Ghostbusters” and “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?”
“Eddie Murphy: One Night Only” serves as a career retrospective and featured stars such as Chris Rock, Arsenio Hall, Tracy Morgan, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L. Jackson and Adam Sandler fondly sharing tales of Murphy's exploits, reports AP. Another highlight was the duet with Stevie Wonder on “Higher Ground.”
While there were plenty of stars on hand, the highlight of the night was Paige Butcher. The Australian model caught the eye of all in attendance. According to New York Post, Butcher has appeared on the covers of Maxim and Fitness. The Post is also reporting Butcher and Murphy have been seen out and about in Los Angeles over the last few weeks.
