  • Meghan Markle was accused of not wanting to be British after Mother's Day post on Instagram

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry posted a special tribute to all mothers in the United Kingdom on Mother’s Day. However, the royal couple faced backlash for sharing their post.

“Mummy, mum, mom, mama, granny, nan. Thank you,” the royal couple’s post read.

“No matter what you call your mom, this Mother’s Day in the UK, we honor the moms all over the world who do so much every single day, and now more than ever. Thank you,” they captioned the snap.

However, some critics slammed Prince Harry and Markle for not including a photo of their mothers to commemorate the special day. Others also criticized them for using the same navy-blue background that they usually use for their Instagram posts.

Other royal fans compared the Sussexes’ post with Prince William and Kate Middleton’s Mother’s Day greeting. The Cambridges shared a photo of Princess Diana, Middleton, and Carole to celebrate their special day.

“In the hour of deep darkness and despair, the Cambridge’s released a beautiful photo along with a sweet peek at a personal card Catherine received from George … You give us the same blue backgrounds drivel! You didn’t want to be British so please don’t crowbar UK Mother’s Day! I’m sure you’ll make a fuss on the US Mother’s Day on 10th May! Desperately trying to stay relevant without even trying very hard! ” Instagram user @murky_meg said.

“And since you’re not British, Meggie, why would you celebrate their Mother’s Day? Oh, right. Will and Kate posted family pics...,” Instagram user @chappell0751 said.

“Why don’t you wait for Canada and US Mother’s Day. And could you please send back the police officers. They need to be with their families here in the UK. As you are self-isolating and everybody is so welcoming you don’t need them to run errands anymore,” Instagram user @a_jbear said.

“Do you celebrate Father’s Day too, Meghan? Or are you just full of self-serving hypocrisy? ” Instagram user @sebbysebster said.
