Miley Cyrus was confirmed to attend the 2017 Teen Choice Awards, but fans were disappointed to learn that the singer was actually not at the Galen Center at the University of Southern California on Sunday night. The singer went on Instagram to reveal that a busy schedule kept her from attending.

“To my dearest fans & all of those watching @teenchoicefox! I want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart for presenting me with #TheUltimateChoiceAward!” Cyrus wrote. “I am beyond bummed I couldn’t make it to the show as I had every intention of being there to accept and celebrate this honor! I created an unrealistic schedule for myself which leads me to this announcement!”

Cyrus, 24, was one of the few celebs who were announced as winners ahead of the Teen Choice Awards. She received a surfboard for ultimate choice. The award honors her involvement with the Teen Choice Awards over the last decade.

Miley is hard at work on both her new album and the new season of “The Voice.” The Daily Mail spotted her at a promotional photo shoot in Malibu, California, for the thirteenth season of the NBC reality show on Friday. “The Voice” Season 13 is set to premiere on Sept. 25 while her new album “Younger Now” will drop on Sept. 29, meaning the Tennessee native is in full promotion mode at the moment. She apparently left herself overbooked.

It seems the “Malibu” singer intended to make a big announcement while at the awards show. It’s time to release her next single! Fans can expect her next track to drop on Friday, and it looks like the cover for “Younger Now” is a grade school photo of Cyrus.

“I've been tryin to keep the secret but I can’t hide it any longer! My new single / music video #YoungerNow will be dropping this Friday , Aug 18th & I am sooooooo EXCITED to share it with all of you!” she wrote.

While many celebrities at the Teen Choice Awards spread messages of love during the ceremony, Cyrus did the same at the end her Instagram post. “I hope to always make people smile and shine light thru my work!” she wrote in the caption. “I look forward to making music for the rest of my life and I’m thankful everyday for those who listen! I am sending so much love and peace into the world right now because THATS what we need most! Love Love & more LOVE!”

In addition to keeping busy with her work, Cyrus’ love life has been the center of plenty of attention lately. She and fiancé Liam Hemsworth have been spotted wearing wedding bands. However, TMZ reports that sources close to the couple say that they haven’t walked down the aisle yet. They’re just having fun messing with the press.

While Miley Cyrus couldn’t accept her award, her fellow “Voice” coach Adam Levine was able to accept his award with his band Maroon 5. The men won the decade award. Although their hit album “Songs About Jane” came out 15 years ago, the surfboard honors Levine’s band for their evolution over the last decade.
