If you thought “Mistresses” ended Season 2 on a jaw-dropping note, just wait until you see what the hit ABC series has in store for the third round, which is expected to air in beginning in June. Not only will Karen’s (Yunjin Kim) mysterious diagnosis be revealed in the Season 3 premiere, but the writers of the drama also will address the abrupt departure of Alyssa Milano’s character, Savi, from the show.

“I can’t speak too specifically about the Savi of it all, except to say that she is very much a part of our premiere,” Rina Mimoun, the “Mistresses” showrunner, revealed in an interview with TVLine.

In October Milano announced her exit from the series. “After two wonderful seasons in Los Angeles, the studio has decided to shoot season three of Mistresses in Vancouver, Canada, for financial reasons. It’s with a heavy heart that I have decided that I can’t relocate,” the actress said in a statement. “I have two babies under 4. Being a mother and a wife comes first, and I just cannot uproot my children and separate the family by moving away. I will miss this job desperately and wish everyone the absolute best.”

Following Milano’s shocking announcement, fans questioned how her parting from the series would affect the upcoming plotline of “Mistresses.” After months of theorizing, it looks like we might have an answer. Jes Macallan, who portrays Savi’s sister Joss, revealed in an interview that audiences shouldn’t anticipate any moving back or ahead in time as an effect of Milano’s departure.

“We really thought there was going to have to be a time jump, but they figured that out,” the actress explained to TV Line. “Why skip away from [the drama of the Season 2 finale] and be like, ‘Here are our characters six month later’? It’d feel like a disservice. Everybody had big news coming in.” Including Savi!

When fans last saw Savi she was strutting down the beach, unaware that Joss and her ex-husband Harry (Brett Tucker) were rolling around together in a steamy – and sandy – seashore rendezvous.

Is that how Savi will be written off? By leaving in a huff after baring witness to the betrayal? Considering that the series has followed the theme of sisterhood and homed in on the bond between these four women since it premiered, we highly doubt it. That’s why Mimoun’s next Season 3 teaser indicates a possible way for Savi to be written off.

According to the executive producer, “Mistresses” is “bringing back a very special guest from Season 1 — a surprise visitor who once again wreaks havoc in the lives of one of our Mistresses.” Could Milano’s character be the one terrorized by this mysterious guest star?
