“Modern Family” recurring guest star Adam Devine will be hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards on May 7 at 8 p.m. EST.

According to People, the prestigious event, formerly called MTV Movie Awards, will now include TV shows for the first time in 25 years. The event will be held at the Shrine Auditorium and will be televised live on the network.

While speaking with the publication, the funnyman said that he’s already preparing to host the awards show and is confident that the producers will invite him again year after year. The 33-year-old “Pitch Perfect” star added, “I feel like I am the biggest movie and television star together as one. Will Smith might have something to say about that but they didn’t ask him to host, they asked me. So who’s the bigger star? It’s him, but I’m doing the best with what I have.”

Devine also revealed that he got a call from the people behind the MTV Movie & TV Awards while he was on board his tour bus. At the time, Devine was making rounds for his stand-up comedy shows in the United States. Upon hearing the news that he will be hosting the event, Devine let out a loud gasp, leading the person on the other line to wonder if he passed out. “But I didn’t die – I started living. Finally. With that news I can finally live,” he said.

Meanwhile, the actor also denied the speculations that he’s worried about hosting the show since the likes of Kevin Heart and Dwayne Johnson headlined it in the past. Devine said that he already has an idea how he would stand out from the other past hosts, and that is to combine masculinity with vascularity.

Last year’s MTV Movie Awards also saw some great moments from Devine. This was probably one of the reasons why the actor was asked to host the show. At the time, Devine and his “Pitch Perfect” co-star, Rebel Wilson, kissed each other onstage after they received the best kiss award. Devine shared that Wilson, who hosted the show in 2013, has also been giving him advice on how to make the night a memorable one for the fans, nominees and celebrities.

Other than MTV Movie & TV Awards, Devine is also being kept busy by his relationship with Chloe Bridges. A source told US Weekly that the two started dating in early 2015. Around that time, they starred in the movie “The Final Girls.”

Devine will also return to “Modern Family” Season 9 if the hit ABC sitcom will be renewed by the network. TV Line writer Michael Ausiello was recently asked if Devine will reprise his role as Andy in the last few episodes of Season 8. He replied, “Yes, I do have info! And the answer is no. Not this season, at least.”

Unfortunately, there is still no confirmation regarding the renewal, but “Modern Family” co-creator Steve Levitan said he’s not worried about the show’s fate. “I’m not worried about it. I think everybody wants to come back. It typically works out. Fortunately, I think we’re in good shape,” he said while at the Emmy FYC panel (via Spoilers Guide).
