Motorola Xoom to see a competitor in Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 for 2011

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) is expected to be held between 14-17 February in Barcelona Spain and the event will see more than 1,300 companies showcasing their products.

The Motorola Xoom tablet made inroads in Los Vegas Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2011 but a video teaser posted on YouTube showed the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 which is expected to be released during Mobile World Congress 2011 with leaked specifications.

The leaked specifications of Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 showed the tablet featuring a NVIDIA Tegra 2 3D processor with 1.2 GHz processor, the latest processor chip from NVIDIA. But the possibilities of chip going to be in LG Slate are quite high. The Xoom tablet showed during the CES event featured NIVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core with 1 GHz processor.

The other specifications of Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 include 7-inch display 2048×1200 Super-AMOLED Gorilla Glass screen, HD video recording (1080p) with Dual LED flash, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v3.0, USB port, 64 GB Internal memory, microSD slot up to 32 GB, 1 GB RAM, 8 mega-pixel rear and 3 mega-pixel front camera, accelerometer, gyroscope, compass and Barometer.

Motorola Xoom features 10.1-inch 1280x800 resolution display, 32 GB internal memory, 1 GB RAM, 1080p video capture, 802.11 a/b/g/n, 5 mega-pixel rear-facing and 2 mega-pixel front camera, 10 hours of battery life Barometer, accelerometer, magnetometer, ambient light sensor and gyroscope. Also Motorola Xoom tablet is priced at whooping $799.

But on supply side, Apple recently shifted their manufacturing from Japan to Taiwan in the hope of finding cheaper sources of displays. If Apple is unable to find a supplier for Retina displays for the iPad 2, then Samsung may also face similar problem to provide a 2048x1200 AMOLED display.

Motorola Xoom will be featuring Android 3.0 the Honeycomb OS of Google and Galaxy Tab 2 is expected to come with Android 2.3, which will be upgradeable to Android 3.0 or Honeycomb.
