Libya's ousted ruler Moammar Gadhafi reportedly died of wounds after he was captured near his hometown of Sirte, on Thursday morning.

Gadhafi was trying to escape from Sirte in a convoy while it was attacked by NATO warplanes, news agencies reported.

Earlier, Reuters reported that the head of Gadhafi's armed forces, Abu Bakr Younus Jabr, had been killed in the attack.

Libyan revolutionary fighters declared victory over Sirte. They celebrated by firing endless rounds into the sky, pumping their guns and singing the national anthem, the Associated Press reported.
