Stocks fell on Wednesday, led lower by energy and technology stocks, with the Nasdaq down 2 percent as a sliding euro and rising Italian bond yields reflected persistent concerns about Europe's debt crisis.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 133.92 points, or 1.12 percent, to 11,821.02. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> dropped 15.85 points, or 1.29 percent, to 1,209.88. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> dropped 52.12 points, or 2.02 percent, to 2,527.15.
