Christina Aguilera is changing things up in “Nashville” Season 3. For one thing, the pop star will attempt to sing country music. For another, she has become a brunette. Aguilera, 34, posted a teaser of what her “Nashville” character will look like on Twitter Tuesday, when it appeared she’ll be donning a wig for her guest-starring role:

“The Voice” judge will play Jade St. John, a successful pop star, on the drama, E Online reported. She’ll come to town for a two-night event in the Bridgestone Arena. During her guest spot, her character will reveal she wants to switch genres and sing country music.

“I can say my character is a successful pop singer who desperately wants to move into the country world, as that is her true passion,” Aguilera told Billboard. “But she is caught between her passion and what the label wants her to do.”

While “The Voice” can be pretty intense, “Nashville” will be Aguilera’s first scripted role on a television drama. The pop star is fairly new to acting, with only a few titles on her resume. In 2010, she played a burlesque dancer in “Burlesque” and herself in “Get Him to the Greek.” Aguilera noted it was important for her to do projects outside the realm of singing (even though her role on “Nashville” will most likely include a couple of songs).

“I am excited to try something different, as I do think in life, and in music, experience just adds to the creative process,” she said.

“Nashville” Season 3 returns to ABC with the concert special “Nashville: On the Record” Wednesday, March 25, at 10 p.m. EDT.
