“Nashville” isn’t forgetting Rayna Jaymes. The dead country star will be on Deacon’s mind in Season 5, episode 18 as he supports one of her favorite charities, but grieving his wife’s death isn’t as fast as the country crooner thought it would be.

“Deacon plays a benefit for a charity,” the synopsis for the CMT drama says. Deacon (Charles Esten) will play a gig for Foster More, and he wants to donate something from Rayna’s (Connie Britton) closet for auction. However, giving away any of her things seems like a huge step.

In a sneak peek video from Entertainment Weekly, Deacon tells Avery (Jonathan Jackson) how difficult this process is. He knows that a piece of Rayna’s wardrobe shouldn’t be so meaningful. “What am I supposed to do, though? I’m gonna lock myself in the house and build a shrine to her?” Deacon asks. “It just all sounds so stupid and she’d be the first to say too, she would.”

Avery gives some good advice to his boss. “At the end of the day, what’s on these walls, what’s in her closet, it’s just stuff,” he says. “The life that you shared, the songs you wrote together, that’s a different story. No one can take that away. That stuff’s eternal.”

The rocker won’t be around to give advice for long. Avery heads out on tour in “Nashville” Season 5, episode 18, which is titled “The Night Before (Life Goes On).” Meanwhile, Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) will be frustrated during a choreography session. “Juliette continues to be plagued by her injuries while Avery gets a taste of independence,” the synopsis teases.

Can their relationship survive the distance? These two have overcome a lot, but Juliette made it clear she still is rather insecure. Avery spending time away might not be good for their marriage. The “Nashville” promo video for episode 18 reveals another women taking his phone away from him.

“Scarlett and Gunnar shoot a national commercial,” the summary also notes. While Will’s (Chris Carmack) beer commercial was a breeze, Scarlett (Clare Bowen) and Gunnar (Sam Palladio) will run into some more trouble. The real danger seems to be in a parking lot, though. The above commercial shows a kid holding up Scarlett and Gunnar at gunpoint.

Elsewhere in this week’s episode, “Nashville” will introduce Jessie Caine’s (Kaitlin Doubleday) ex-husband Brad (Jeffrey Nordling). A sneak peek from Entertainment Tonight shows the creep confronting Jessie at the benefit. Jessie looks concerned as he blows off his son’s processing issues as laziness. There’s clearly tension between Brad and pretty much everyone he talks to, including Deacon.
