Natasha Lyonne has just been cast as lead in Amy Poehler’s upcoming Netflix comedy.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Lyonne will also serve as co-creator alongside Poehler an Leslye Headland. The yet to be titled comedy will follow the life of a young woman named Nadia (Lyonne) who is on a journey as a guest of honor at a party in New York City.

Headland will write episode 1, but will team up with Lyonne in writing the other episodes from the series. Poehler will also serve as executive producer together with her colleagues at Paper Kite. Her team is also behind Hulu’s hit series, “Difficult People.”

The “Orange is the New Black” star released a statement following her casting in the Netflix comedy. “So excited to get cracking with the intensely brilliant Leslye Headland, the GOAT with a heart of gold Amy Poehler, and Netflix, the safe haven I’ve been searching for since the ‘80s. Deeply moved to work with such heavy hitters and to share our show with the world,” she said.

Headland also released a statement where she called Lyonne and Poehler her heroes. “These women are heroes of mine and to work with them at a company that promotes originality and creativity is a thrill,” she said.

Meanwhile, it is still unclear how Lyonne’s casting in the comedy will affect her stint in fellow Netflix series, “Orange is the New Black.” The actress has been in the show since it premiered on July 11, 2013. A year later, Lyonne was nominated for an Emmy for her role as Nicky in the hit TV series. As of late, the release date for Poehler’s series hasn’t been announced yet.

The production for “Orange is the New Black” Season 6 is currently ongoing. Cast member Laura Prepon was spotted on set just months after she gave birth to her first child with fiancé Ben Foster. The actress shared a photo of her makeup-free face on Instagram and revealed that she’s back at work. She also used the hashtag “working mom” and “Alex Vause,” which was a reference to her character.

“Orange is the New Black” Season 6 will premiere on Netflix sometime next year.
