The National Board of Reviews of Motion Pictures awarded Up in the Air directed by Jason Reitman as the best film of 2009 on Thursday.

The movie stars George Clooney, Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick. Clooney is a villain with a job that has him traveling around the country firing people.

The Board of Review which was created in 1909 gathers film professionals, educators, historians and students. The board is an indicator of future Academy Award winners. In the last two years, the group awarded No Country for Old Men and Slumdog Millionaire best films and those went to win also the Oscar in the same category.
