Forget Halloween — this weekend's biggest celebration is National Cat Day.

Held on Saturday, National Cat Day is not only a chance to honor your feline friends but also an opportunity to spread awareness about cat adoption. On its website, National Cat Day creator Colleen Paige suggests observing the holiday by giving food to animal welfare groups, purchasing new toys for your pet or dressing up as a cat.
