Why should teachers get all the freebies this week? Tuesday, May 6, in conjunction with National Teacher Appreciation Day, marks the beginning of National Nurses Week, which honors the hard work, sacrifices and contributions of nurses. While medical professionals may not receive as many free and discounted items as our nation’s educators will this week, there are many promotions offered to medical professionals now through Monday, May 12.

In celebration of National Nurses Week 2014, here are six businesses offering freebies:

FOOD

Cinnabon

Cinnabon confirmed on its official Facebook page on Tuesday that it will participate in National Nurses Week. Health care workers can get a free classic roll or minibon roll (while supplies last) from any participating Cinnabon location now through May 12 by showing a valid health care ID. The offer is limited to one free item per visit.

Dunkin' Donuts

Our nation’s nurses will run on Dunkin’ this week if they take advantage of the donut chain's free coffee offer. Various Dunkin' Donuts locations are offering those with valid health care ID’s a free small, 16 oz. Dunkin’ Dark Roast ice coffee. Hip2Save reports that the offer is only valid 4 p.m. to 10 p.m, May 6-12.

Sprinkles Cupcakes

Teachers and nurses alike can receive a free sweet treat from Sprinkles Cupcakes on May 6. The cupcake bakery announced on its official Twitter page on Tuesday that professionals in both the education and medical fields can receive a free mini cupcake by showing a valid work ID.

Buca di Beppo

The Italian food chain Buca di Beppo is offering free meals to nurses and teachers this week. Individualized portions of baked ziti and ravioli are available Tuesday through May 11 for dine-in customers with a valid work ID. There is a limit of one coupon per visit per table. (You can also receive a similar free pasta deal by signing up with the restaurant’s eClub.)

CLOTHING

New York & Co.

Treat yourself to some new clothes this week by using New York & Co.’s 30 percent discount for both nurses and teachers. The coupon, if you show a valid work ID, is available for purchases both in-store and online now through May 7. (Note: Online shoppers must use the promo code 1810 to receive the discount.)

MISCELLANEOUS

Walgreens

While not officially confirmed, some Walgreens shoppers said they received a coupon for 15 percent off brand-new items and 20 percent off store-brand items in honor of Nurses Week. The alleged promotion is for Tuesday through May 11 with a valid health care ID, and it excludes tobacco, liquor, dairy products, gift cards and prescriptions.
