'Man Of Steel'
"Man of Steel" will be released on June 14. Warner Brothers

Warner Brothers has unveiled the latest “Man of Steel” poster, and it features Superman in an unfamiliar position. The new poster shows Superman in shackles and surrounded by guards.

“Man of Steel” stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Superman's Krypton father Jor-El, and Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent, his adoptive Earth parents.

The “Man of Steel” poster was released on Facebook on Monday. "Man of Steel" is directed by Zack Snyder, who also directed “Watchmen,” “300” and “Sucker Punch,” and it's a rather stark and gritty departure from what fans are used to seeing. Superman in shackles, being arrested, is contrary to the wholesome image that fans have come to expect from the DC Comics superhero.

Superman is just that, the superhero, the savior, the good guy, battling foes such as Lex Luthor, Bizarro, Doomsday, Darkseid or General Zod. Superman as a villain is something different and has led to excitement and speculation as to why Superman would be arrested.

Superman being arrested falls in line with what Snyder has said about the tone of “Man of Steel.” In an interview with Los Angeles Times, he said, “It’s a more serious version of Superman. It’s not like a heart attack. We took the mythology seriously. We take him as a character seriously. I believe the movie would appeal to anyone. I think that you’re going to see a Superman you’ve never seen before.”

Many fans have speculated that General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, may have played a role in getting Superman arrested. “Man of Steel” will be released on June 14, 2013, and the first full trailer will run before “The Hobbit” on Dec. 14, so expect some plot points to be unveiled shortly.
