Neymar will be officially unveiled as a Barcelona player on Monday when he is presented to fans and media inside the Camp Nou. After flying into Barcelona, the Brazilian star went to a local hospital to complete his medical and will then sign his five-year contract with the Spanish champions. The club’s fans will then get a first look at the 21-year-old on the pitch at 6.15 p.m. local time (12.15 p.m. ET) before giving his first press conference just over an hour later. A live stream of the events can be viewed on the official Barcelona website or on beIN Sport Play.

Neymar’s packed day comes just 24 hours after he played in the official opening of the new Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro when Brazil drew 2-2 with England. It is just ten days since the forward ended weeks and indeed years of speculation by announcing that he would be leaving his only previous professional club Santos to join Barcelona. Neymar has been courted by most of Europe’s major clubs since bursting onto the scene as a 17-year-old.

Barcelona and Real Madrid both tabled offers with Santos for the player, but it is believed that he has long since had at least a verbal agreement to become the latest Brazilian to grace the Camp Nou turf. Neymar follows in the footsteps of Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Ronaldo and Romario all of whom are fondly remembered by the Catalans for their contributions in the past 20 years.

And the fans, who were already crowding outside the Camp Nou to get their first glimpse of Neymar, will expect similar moments of brilliance from the latest Brazilian superstar. Barcelona are looking to Neymar to provide a complementary attacking option to the world’s best player Lionel Messi. The team’s reliance on the Argentinian was exposed when he suffered hamstring injury in the closing weeks of the season and was unable to prevent Barcelona losing 7-0 on aggregate to Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinals.
